Another day of tests

We started the day by seeing the chemo oncologist (Dr. E). He talked to us about the situation, how he thought we might treat it, and did some more bloodwork (and yes, he had all the bloodwork from the previous oncologist!) They made us appointment with a radiation oncologist(Dr. G) and a surgeon (Dr. L). The nurse for the radiation oncologist decided to call him and see if he would just see us today. Yippee, we won't have to wait through the weekend. So we went back to the office in the afternoon to see Dr. G, when we arrived he had already spent an hour and a half looking at Paul's previous scans and tests. After talking and visiting, he decided to do another CT scan. All of the previous CT scans did not have a dye included; so for the third CT scan Paul was injected with dye. Dr. G is curious about the lymph nodes...are they really involved in the cancer or not. The tumor is definitely cancerous; but the lymph is still a question. So we did another CT scan today, another PET scan scheduled for Monday, and get to meet our new surgeon on Tuesday. Another odd thing we heard today...Paul's pain is not typical for cancer patients. So Dear Lord please guide these doctors to the reason for the pain.

The Journey Begins

Today I start to blog about our new journey. I know it is hard for most of you to believe that as much of a geek that I am...I have never blogged, but I began thinking that many of you will want to keep up with us and our new journey. So rather than calling each and everyone of you each day, here is our blog. Yesterday was the day that we learned Paul really does have "the big C", although it wasn't what we wanted to hear, at least we know why he is in tremendous pain. The last month has been full of ups and downs, doctors appointments and tests. The test that finally gave the doctors and pathologists the information for a diagnosis was the colonoscopy on Monday. Praise God the diagnosis came and we can begin our journey on treatment. We meet with an oncologist tomorrow morning and after that we will know how to start our fight. Everyone keep praying for us!
